Ashikaga flower park is a popular attraction site of Tochigi prefecture and a famous place to go in Japan. It is a theme park where you can enjoy waves of purple, pink and white Japanese Wisterias during both day and night. Apart from magnificent Wisterias there are various kinds plants and seasonal flowers including Tulips, Nemophila, Azaleas, Water Lilies and more.
There are over 350 Wisterias throughout the flower park. The fresh fragrance from these flowers will refresh your mind while you are enjoying their colorful formations at the same time. There is a huge Wisteria tree on this park which is about 160 years old.
There is a long tunnel of White Wisteria flowers where visitors can enter. The park itself is 94 thousands meter squares in size. The “Ofuji Matsuri” (Great Wisteria Festival) is the most popular event that held every year at this park.
Just like the day time, the park is beautiful at night time as well. Illumination at the park happens between Autumn and Winter. During the illumination, about 4 million lights give the place a fairy-tale and romantic vibe.

By car from Tokyo it takes about 1 and half hours to reach this theme park. By train it is 3 hours and it costs between 2000 ~ 5000 yen one way depending on the time of the day.
Ashikaga Flower Park – Entry Fees and Address
Day time admission fee for adult is between 300 yen and 2000 yen. For children it is between 200 yen and 1000 yen. Night time admission fee for adult is between 700 yen and 1800 yen. For children it is between 400 yen and 900 yen. Price is high on the peak season which is from Mid April to Mid May including night illumination. The park opens at 9:00 AM at closes at 18:00. In the Winter it is from 10:00 to 17:00. Illumination is from 15:30 to 21:00. Parking at the park is free but it can be challenging to get a space during the peak season.

When to visit Ashikaga Flower Park?
The peak season for visiting the park is from Mid April to Mid May. However, perhaps to get the full bloom and enjoy the most out of the park End of April is the best time for visiting this location. Check the weather beforehand, a sunny day is preferable and be there between 11:00 and 14:00.
