For flower lovers the Samuel Cocking Garden in Enoshima is a nice place to go in Japan. Located on top of the small island of Enoshima, this beautiful botanical garden greet its visitors by showcasing various plants and seasonal flowers almost all year around. The place is mostly popular during Winter season.
This botanical garden was first introduced in 1882 by a British merchant named Samuel Cocking. After getting a renovation, it was opened again for public on first half of 2003.
How to visit this garden?
By car from Tokyo it takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes. By train and then bus it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. By bus and then train it is 1300 yen one way.
There is a 20 minutes walk to the garden since it is located on top of the island. The nearest station is Katase-Enoshima. Car parking is paid on the spot near the garden.
Samuel Cocking Garden – Entry Fees and Address
If you want to use Enoshima Pay Escalators, it is about 360 yen for adult and 180 yen for children. For garden, the admission fee is 200 yen for adult and 100 yen for children. For under 3 years of old admission is free.
The escalator opens at 8:50 and closes at 19:05. The garden opens at 9:00 and closes at 20:00.

When to visit Samuel Cocking Garden?
You can visit this botanical garden anytime of the year. However, the garden is mostly beautiful during Winter season when you can enjoy colorful tulips smiling all around you.
Visit the garden between December and February on a sunny day. There is no flower on this spot during September and October but you can enjoy the nearest Sea Candle tower and nice foods.

Some helpful tips before visiting this garden are – Make sure you check the weather before going to this spot. A sunny day is highly recommended. Visit the place between 13:00 and 16:00. In this way you can enjoy the beautiful lighting during evening and night time. There is a watch tower “Sea Candle” near the garden which is recommended for experiencing stunning views.
If you are traveling with children, choose the escalator option while buying tickets. It will take about 5 minutes to reach the garden. By foot you have to go using stone stairs which will take between 25 and 30 minutes.
