Tsumekizaki lighthouse is a nice place to go in Japan. It is a beautiful white lighthouse located at Shimoda in Shizuoka prefecture. Surrounded by pleasant Pacific cliff shore and Amagi mountains view you will feel the serenity of this place. To reach this lighthouse there is about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the car parking/bus stop. During this short walk which includes a stone stairway, you will get to see small bushes, some flowers and grasses on both side of the path.
In addition to pleasant views from this lighthouse, there is a small shore area where you can snorkel, catch crabs (and release later) hiding in the stones, play in the sea water with kids. How to visit this lighthouse?
By car it takes about 5 hours from Tokyo to reach this lighthouse in Shizuoka. By train and then bus it is about 3 and half hours which costs between 7000 yen to 8000 yen one way.
From Izukyuu Shimoda station it takes 13 mins by car or 30 mins by bus if you are already at Shimoda. Bus fare from station to lighthouse is 440 yen. Buy bus ticket after entering in the bus by cash only.

Entry fee is free all the time. Parking fee is 500 yen per day. There is a shop near the parking lot called Blue Tsumeki where you can buy snacks and drinks.

When to visit Tsumekizaki Lighthouse?
While visitors can visit this place anytime but perhaps from July through September is the comfortable time to visit this lighthouse. On other months the weather will be cold and you can still enjoy the sightseeing from the lighthouse, some flowers on the way to the lighthouse but no water activity is possible. Stay careful and keep flashlight with you if you visit the place at night hours.
