By Air it takes about 3 and half hours from Tokyo. From Okinawa mainland it takes about 1 hour. Book your ticket at least 3 months prior otherwise the prices will be higher if you book even 1 month prior.
When to visit Ishigaki?
If you want to do marine activities e.g. snorkeling, diving, marine walk etc. then mid July to mid September is the best time. For sightseeing and light beach activities July to September should be good. Avoid golden week period if possible.
