It takes about 4 and half hours from Nagano by Train and Bus. By taxi it takes about 3 hours to reach Kamikochi which is a 15 kilometer long highland in the Azusa River basin. From Tokyo by bus it takes about 7 hours to each Kamikochi.
Personal vehicle is not allowed to enter this area. If you use personal vehicle, there is a parking lot at the entrance of Kamikochi. From the entrance you need to travel by bus or taxi for half an hour.
